Welcome to my blog!

If I'm being entirely honest with you, I don't actually post too often on this blog, but you know if you want to follow me go for it. When I do post though, I often post recipes or random things like life updates or whatever. It's honestly just a hobby blog, anything that I'm currently into might get posted here. I also have another blog where I review things (movies, TV shows, books, mostly books) @ Anjibooks, so if you're looking for a good book or anything, definitely go check that out.

DIY Lip Scrub

Hey, so as you may know, lately I've been really obsessed with crafting. Tonight I made this really great sugar scrub for removing dead skin on the lips (I guess you could say exfoliating the lips). Here's the recipe.
You'll need
Picture
White Sugar
Picture
Vanilla Extract (or any other extract)
Picture
An empty container (I just used an old candle container from one of my many many many mini Bath and Body Works candles)
Picture
Brown Sugar
Picture
Honey
Picture
Does this one really need a caption?
To start mix 1 Tablespoon of Brown Sugar and 1 Tablespoon of coconut oil together in the container. I just used a toothpick to mix all my ingredients. Now, I don't know what condition your coconut oil is in but mine is very liquidy because I don't refrigerate it and my kitchen is quite warm. If your coconut oil is liquidy, like mine, you're going to need to add a Tablespoon of white sugar also. If your coconut oil is solid, a Tablespoon of brown sugar should work just fine. Next add a drizzle of honey and a few drops of your chosen extract. Mix together. You're done. Easy, right?
How to use:
1. Take some lip scrub
2. Rub until your lips are smooth
3. Either eat or rinse the scrub off
4. Pat lips dry
5. Apply lip balm or chapstick
6. Yay, your lips are smooth
Lip scrubs are very useful in the winter and fall when your lips are dry and cracking. I look forward to using mine.

Camping and Cereal

Been almost a month since I posted on this site. Wow, sorry. I wonder if I'll start off every post from now on apologizing for not posting. Hopefully not. Hopefully I'll actually be unlash enough to log onto weebly more often. Hopefully.
Anyway, summer hasn't been too eventful for me so far. Next next week is ANC Camp, which'll be an.. interesting experience. I'll admit, I'm not that excited to go. Not nearly as excited as Zia was. The thing is, I'm highly introverted so ANC camp just doesn't sound that fun to me. Plus I'm going to have to room with someone and it'll be just my luck that it'll be someone I either a. don't like or b. sleeps with the lights on. Hmph. I'll be sure to write about my ANC camp experience. Or, at least, I'll try to. I faintly remember saying I'd do a St. Kitts post.... but shhhh let's not think about that.
Let's see, what eventful things have I done so far this summer? Oh! I went down to Virginia with my parents for my dad's work party. It was really hot and outdoors. Let me set the picture for you, I don't sweat a lot but it was so hot that while I was sitting in the shade and reading I was sweating. Yeah. That hot. And don't judge me for reading. I told you, I'm super introverted. That was kinda eventful. It was that weekend that I became obsessed with Hart of Dixie. I still seriously love that show. Watch it.
For the most part of my summer I've been a lazy butt and just have been watching Netflix and doing absolutely nothing useful. I'll admit, that annoys me. I like doing something useful but I've just been, as mentioned many times before, L-A-Z-Y.
This past week my dad and I went camping down at Assatague Island, Maryland. It's been a family tradition to go camping down there every year and if you know me, I love tradition. That's one of the only reasons I went because I'm not too crazy about camping. Though, according to some people we weren't even officially camping because we used a camper. Sorry, Camping Purists, but camping just using a tent? Nope. I'm not in for that.
Assatague is quite fun and different because there are wild horses living on the island. If you'd read Misty of Shincatague (or however you spell it) you'd know about it. The horses are pretty funny because they've become so accustomed to humans that they now just walk into campsites. They also have figured out how to unlatch coolers and get food out of them. Assateague camping tip: HIDE THE FOOD. It's rather annoying and (this is the germaphobe part of me speaking) gross because there's horse crap everywhere. This year there was a lot on the beach, too. Egh.
Anyway, I got my camping strategy pretty much down after all these years of doing it. Go to bed fairly early (11 ish) use a sheet and a comforter so if it gets too hot then a sheet can still cover you from no see ums (HATE THOSE). Do not go outside in the evening or at night if possible (bugs love biting me. I've decided to think of it this way- they prefer chinese food over american food.) Wake up around 8 ish (can't really control that but that's usually when I wake up camping) have breakfast and read until eleven ish to noon when it's time to start getting ready to go to the beach. Okay, I'm getting bored of saying my Assatague camping routine and I'm sure you don't really care.
The real reason why I'm missing camping right now is because I'm missing my cousins, Anders and Ivan Croft. I don't see them that often and I really enjoy hanging out with them. Luckily, I'm seeing Ivan at ANC Camp. I'm definitely not missing the bugs. It was also pretty enjoyable just camping with my dad. Father-daughter time. I liked it. (plus I got the whole bed to myself instead of sharing it with Zia, that was pretty nice.)
We had to end our camping trip early because, unfortunately, my mom was in the hospital. Fortunately enough, it wasn't anything majorly serious. Though, it looked like it might've been. She was all confused and it was a little scary. Yesterday morning we all believed that she might've gotten a stroke. Luckily enough for all of us, that wasn't that case. It was (as far as I know) a bad reaction to my mom's chemo. My mom's still in the hospital now, but hopefully she'll be released tomorrow.
Now you may be wondering, why does the title have the word 'cereal' in it. Well, I've come to tell you all of my new obsession. With Golden Grahams.
Picture
Every now and then I get cereal obsessions. Sometimes honey nut cheerios, sometimes frosted flakes, sometimes Special K etc. But this one is new. Parents, if you're reading this, Thank Dara Rogers for you guys having to buy so much of this delicious cereal. She was the once who introduced me to it. If y'all haven't tried Golden Grahams, I highly recommend it. It's delicious. Yum.

Graduated

I've officially graduated from Middle School. Ah this feels so weird. Yes, yes, I know, graduating middle school is nothing compared to college and high school, but right now it seems pretty big. This Thursday I went out to lunch with Atticus, Ryan, Josh and Josh's little sister, Emme. It was fun. I had to leave early (2) because my mom and Aunt Sandy were taking me to get my nails done. I also got my eyebrows waxed. I used a blue color that matched my dress almost perfectly on both my fingers and toes. And then I got sparkles put on my... I don't know what it's called the finger next to the pinky. I think it looks cute.
As soon as I got home from getting my nails done, I got to work on my gift for my class (lip balm, sugar scrub and soap 100% homemade). Unfortunately I wasn't quite on schedule (I was supposed to finish the gift the day before) Anyway, making that stuff took forever, I was up till 9 making it. Then I had to shower. I'd told myself I'd go to bed early that night since I had to get up early the next day but...
Anyway on the morning of graduation/ yesterday morning I woke up at 5:30. Slowly, I got my breakfast and brushed my teethies. Then I woke up Zia. She helped, lie, she did my hair and makeup for graduation which was really nice of her. She didn't even get to eat breakfast before going to school.
Anyway, after Zia left, I went upstairs and started making packages for the gifts for my classmates. I just cut a paper plate and folded it up. I didn't have any better packaging. But hey, it worked out. I ended up being 8 minutes late because I was working on the packaging. So if any of my classmates are reading this, THAT GRADUATION GIFT TOOK LITERALLY FOREVER TO MAKE. *smiles sweetly* love you guys. <3
We had to get to the school at 9:45 for pictures. (or 9:53 for me.) Turns out we actually didn't have that many pictures, we just stood in front of the stage in pretty much the same position as all the parents snapped pictures of us, but hey, it's cool.
I found it amusing that all the guys matched with their purple tie/bow ties (for the Peppelmans) and then the girls were just like bleh. Mrs. Hogan Fiona's mom, is a florist so she brought in these adorable little bouquets for the girls and purple boutonnieres for the boys. The girls were supposed to put the boutonnieres on the guys.... Lol that didn't work out too well since none of us knew how to do so. I tried, Atticus! I tried.
As we were standing in the hallway behind the gym, waiting to walk out, I had a mini heart attack. I was kind freaking out. Let's just leave it at I get nervous easily.
You know how when you were younger you could really feel it when it was Christmas and as you got older the feeling you had on Christmas was just normal and nothing special? It was kinda the same with Graduation. I always thought I'd feel different on graduation like feel that it was graduation. But I didn't. So graduation felt so surreal, like a dream, like it wasn't actually happening. But it did happen. I'm pretty sure..
The graduation ceremony went by very quickly. And shockingly, I didn't trip and face plant on the stage. Though I did take my diploma with the wrong hand... Aw when the kindergarteners gave us the flowers? It was adorable.
Fiona was our class speaker. She did great. Her speech was funny and well written. I really enjoyed listening to it. Nikos Casto was the Valedictorian for the boys. His speech was hilarious. It was about the 'war' going on between the boys and Dr. Feerrrar throughout the whole year. I was laughing the whole time. He was a good choice for Valedictorian.
After the class speakers, Dara and Zach presented the class gift- donating money to Nepal. Then the slideshow. It was great, I'm disappointed that we don't get a copy of it. In the slideshow was a recording of the 8th Grade Girls singing Appreciated by Rixton. I used it in the video I posted on Youtube, which I'll link to below. Feel free to like and subscribe to my channel! (In fact, I encourage it.)
After graduation we walked out and screamed and all that stuff. Then the parents and friends and family and all that stuff came out to congratulate us and give gifts and take many many many pictures. Here are a FEW
For my graduation lunch, I chose to go to Kyoto, my FAVORITE RESTAURANT. Can you guess what kind of restaurant it is? SUSHI, of course.
Picture
After graduation my Aunt Sandy and Aunt Sue left to go home :(. Then I went home, changed into my bikini and waited until 3:30-- there was a pool party at the Trautmen's-- I didn't actually swim at all. It was a very short party- ending at 5. I then went home and worked on editing together my video (as I said before I'll link to that below) (Like and subscribe) and then my dad made me a hot dog which I didn't want/eat and then I showered.
I was doing great on time and then Zia said she couldn't do my make up for the dance party... So I was late because I did my own (and I know next to nothing on make up so I had to work really hard at making it look almost mediocre.) And then the dance party turned out to be mostly in the dark...
The parents planned out the dance party and it was really cute how much effort they put into it. So parents, if you're reading this, THANK YOU! It was a lot of fun.
The dance party was club themed, which was cool. There were three main rooms, the club area where there was a dance floor, strobe lights and next to no lighting, and a 'bar' that served sparkling apple cider, strawberry daiquiris and pina coladas. The next room was the food area with a air hockey table and the last room had the 'photo booth' and T-shirts that read Club 2k15. Then there was an area out back with chairs and an area out front with a fire. I spent the majority of the party hanging out with Atticus and just kinda floating around. We went down to the fire for a bit because he was really cold. Then we went back to the main house area. I didn't dance much because I SUCK at dancing and also don't get how to do it. (Yeah, I'm dumb) but when Shut up and Dance with Me came on I had to dance. Atticus just kinda awkwardly stood there. As soon as that song ended we went back out of the dance room. Then we did shirt signing in which I obnoxiously signed a lot of people's shirts very large. It was fun.
Anyway that was the last time I'll be seeing Nikos and Lance Casto for a while (they're moving). Bye Castos! I'll miss you guys in next years geometry class.
Is there anything else I'm really dying to say? Nope not really. Thanks for reading my blog!
I'll see you guys next time,
-Anj

GRADUATION (+ the other stuff)

Hey Anji! Remember you have a blog? Oh crap. Whoops! Sorry, guys! I've been busy! So.... I'm graduating this week! I know, I know, middle school graduation is nothing compared to college and high school and all that chip, but hey, at the moment it's kinda big for me.
I know, in a year or years I'm going to look back at my blog and be like wow, I was such a dweeb and I thought I was cool. Heh, no. Like now, I look back at my old videos and stuff and I'm just like "Why, past Anji? Why?" Like I know that even now my taste in fashion sucks (Emma, I still don't know what a blazer is???) but back then. Oh dear. Why, Anji, why?
Picture
I can't believe graduation is this soon, yet at the same time, I can. Like I can totally tell that I'm feeling done with school because I took four plus hours tonight to pump myself up for the last two sentences on my homework. Also, I'm just ready for a blissful summer. I'm ready for my break. I'm also totally feeling done and read to leave BACS.
At the same time... I don't want to leave (yet I really do). If you know me, I'm not really into change. And leaving Elementary/Middle School and going into High School is a really big change. All the sudden THIS WEEK I've started to feel nostalgic. Previously I've just been totally ready to leave but now that I'm actually leaving.... I don't know, I have mixed feelings.
Last Friday was May Day Play Day slash Field Day. That was fun like first through fourth grade for me. Now it's my least favorite day of the school year. Actually, it was, because-- NO MORE FIELD DAYS FOR ME! YESSSS.
Last Friday was also awards. If you were unaware (which you probably were because I didn't want to tell anyone incase I didn't get it) I really wanted the Academic Award. So this year I upped my game in my academics.
Our school gives out three big awards: Academic, Charity and Outstanding Student (I don't like the name). The Academic Award, if you couldn't tell from the name, goes to the student with the highest grades. Two academic awards are given out to a girl and a boy.
The Charity Award is given to students who go the extra mile to be nice and well, charitable. I knew I was never going to get that award, haha.
And the Outstanding Student (still think the name sounds pretentious) Award goes to a mix of charity, good grades, leadership, and all the stuff people should look up to in a person. That was really horrible grammar, sorry, guys
If you were unable to guess by now- I GOT THE ACADEMIC AWARD!!! Okay that was my little time to cheer. I almost cried before because I didn't think I'd get it and then I almost cried after because I was so happy. Thankfully, I didn't. The whole school was in that room.
UPDATE (10/21/15) Look what I found http://brynathynchurchschool.orghttp://brynathynchurchschool.org/news_items/8th-grade-award-winners//news_items/8th-grade-award-winners/  :)The boy who got the academic award is Nikos Casto, which is a surprise to no one. That guy is brilliant.
Then for the Charity Award, no boys received it but two girls did- Hannah King and Dara Rogers.
Outstanding Student? Zachary Lambertus and Caroline O'Hagan.
CONGRATS to all the other award winners.
Another newer award that got given out this year in a different awards thing is the Citizenship Award. The plaque for that is so nice. Camryn Buss and Atticus Boatman got those awards (no surprise there).
Atticus, if you're reading this, I'm proud of you.
Camryn, AWESOME JOB!
So this is our last week here... ever. And at BACS, all the days in the last week are 'half days' like our fridays. I have a vague feeling this week will seem very short and graduation will be over before I know it. Like I mentioned before, graduation is feeling kind of bittersweet to me right now.
If you all can, come to my graduation! It's at 11 AM at the Bryn Athyn Church School on June 5, 2015. It'll be really cool if y'all come.
I'm really excited because Fiona is our class speaker, I'm sure she'll make her speech a lot of fun to listen to. Nikos is the boy's valedictorian.
As a graduation gift to my classmates, I'm making exfoliating sugar scrub bars, lib balm and soap. It's not much, but, jeez, the ingredients are expensive.
I was also really bored this past weekend so I made lemon raspberry cupcakes, caramel cupcakes and lemon raspberry cheesecake all from scratch.

Except, I didn't actually want them so I gave them all away.
Why didn't I want them? Let's just say my bikini body isn't exactly ready for the summer that's already here. (my exact thoughts, "Lol what bikini body? Hint: there is and never was one.")
Picture
Yeah, it's so bad I had to cut the picture.
Anyway, as I said before, this week is probably going to go by very quickly. Tomorrow I'm going to lunch with friends and then getting my hair trimmed. On Wednesday I'm staying home and crafting for my friends. Thursday I decided to go to lunch as my last lunch at BACS. Then Friday? Graduation! Graduation then graduation lunch and then pool party and then a dance party. And I'm getting distracted so I'll just end the post off on that note :)
