Welcome to my blog!

If I'm being entirely honest with you, I don't actually post too often on this blog, but you know if you want to follow me go for it. When I do post though, I often post recipes or random things like life updates or whatever. It's honestly just a hobby blog, anything that I'm currently into might get posted here. I also have another blog where I review things (movies, TV shows, books, mostly books) @ Anjibooks, so if you're looking for a good book or anything, definitely go check that out.

North Carolina  and Virginia Beach

Originally we were supposed to leave to go to Core Point, North Carolina on Tuesday last week, but unfortunately, my mom was stuck in the hospital so we didn't end up driving down until Friday. Out of the two of us, I definitely enjoy going to Core Point more than Zia. She's in those teenage years/ it's her personality to prefer to be around friends. The reason we went to Core Point was to go to the Tripp family reunion. Personally, it wasn't too interesting for me because pretty much everyone there was like "Wow I haven't seen you since you were like 3 feet tall." And I was just like... yeah, I'm not much taller. It was the day after the family reunion that was my favorite. My mom's cousin's, David and Suzy, have jet skiing and they took us out on the river. Around elevenish we went tubing behind the jet skis. Zia wimped out 'cause her hands hurt after a while but I kept tubing for a while. Then we rode the jet skis down the river. Next came lunch and then more tubing. i have my tubing strategy all worked out. It's all about switching hand holds. That's the trick to hanging on. My main issue on the tube was getting water in my mouth and eyes. Falling off wasn't too much of a problem. After we were done tubing, we went jet skiing again. Zia and I went on the jet ski with David. David  my mom's cousin, not David my dad. That was a lot of fun, too. We did a bunch of donuts and it became a sort of how long can we not fall off thing. Let me tell you, we fell off plenty of times. When Zia was sitting on the backend she fell off by herself quite a few times but when I was sitting on the back, it was either all or nothing. I wasn't gonna fall off by myself, plus, I have a tighter grip than Zia (while holding on to the people's live jackets in front of me.) Then David and Zia switched and Zia drove. We didn't even have to do donuts to fall off. Zia's driving just made us fall off numerous times. It was funny once Zia, the driver, fell off while the rest of us stayed on and another time I was sitting in the middle and yet somehow David and Zia fell off.  That day was probably the best day of my summer. It was a lot of fun and was worth the skinned elbows and soreness. And trust me, the next day I was feeling very sore. In fact, I'm still feeling quite sore.
Luckily, the next day I wasn't doing anything too strenuous. We just drove up to Virginia Beach to stay with my parents' friends, Buck and Deb. I really enjoy staying with them because it's fun to bake with Deb and I love their dog, Cassie. Cassie is scared of the floor and stairs, so she stays on the carpets around the house for the most part. Deb and I made a Nutella Brioche, which tasted just as good as it looks.

Dinner at Buck and Deb's are also always quite fabulous tasting. We stayed in Virginia Beach for one full day because my dad needed to get some work done in Antech, his company. On that one full day Zia and I decided it would be fun to go zip lining. Except... it wasn't zip lining. It was one of those in the tree tops obstacle courses. For those of you who were unaware, I have a phobia of heights. Yeah, not just a fear but a phobia. So this why rather terrifying for me. But I got through! And without falling. I'm pretty proud. Doing that in the sky thing was an interesting experience but not one I'll do again anytime soon. After we got back, we had a snack then went out on the water. (There's a lake right behind Buck and Deb's house) I went on a Kayak while Zia was on a paddle board. As you can imagine, my arms today are even MORE sore because they were still recovering from the tubing when I went on obstacle courses in trees and then kayaking. Yeah, my arms aren't feeling so great today (this is written the day after all this stuff.) Anyway, today we just drove back home. Nothing too interesting. We have plans to go to the beach in August, so that should be fun. Sorry if the writing is confusing/crappy in this post, I'm really tired.

ANC Camp was definitely more fun than I was expecting it to be but at the same time a lot less fun than I was expecting it to be. I really enjoyed meeting new people and the classes were fun, but getting up early? eh. Also, being super-ish extroverted for a week is EXHAUSTING for an introvert and yet somehow I was able to accomplish it. But it was worth it, I made a lot of new friends there that I hope to stay in contact with. I think I'll probably go back again next year unless you know, I'm doing something more interesting like gong to Italy *cough* *cough* (that was directing towards, my parents)

DAY ZERO
Day Zero was the day we arrived. I was really upset because I didn't really want to be there and I was nervous. But my sister talked to the counselors, who happened to be her friends, so people made me go out and socialize. So, being the outgoing girl that I am, I talked to Atticus. But as we waited in line for dinner, I talked to my cuzzy, Ivy. That's when I made my first new friend, Jordan. We bonded over making fun of Ivy's luscious eyelashes. Seriously, that boy could be in a mascara commercial.
Food in Bean Hall kinda sucked but whatever.
Day Zero evening we all went down to the field house and played some games like lover's leap. Jordan and I partnered up for that and lasted pretty long in the first game, but then in the second game we got out pretty quickly. Then we got together with our teams and played some team games. The Purple Team (aka my team) won the first game. The second game we tied balloons to our ankles and tried to pop the other teams' balloons. Purple came in second and Orange first. Then we went back to the dorms, got ready for bed and had hall meetings. Oh, by the way, my roommate was AWESOME. I loved her, Leigh was a great roommate. Hall meetings was when our entire hall just sat in the hall and talked about the day and such. Curfew was 11 and we had to get up at 7:30 (I couldn't wait to sleep for the next 25 hours when I got home) I was on the hall on the third floor at the end. Running up all the stairs and down the hall was so much fun. The girl's dorm was freezing , which was also great.
Day 1
Getting up was a pain. Literally, I had a horrible headache and a gas bubble pressuring my stomach. Honestly, I was just feeling  crappy, so breakfast, church and religion class were kinda a blur. My first class was the science of cooking. That was a lot of fun. And halfway through that class my pains had subsided. On the first day I was in a group with Percy and Liam. We were making Lemon Merengue pie and testing the best ways to make it. Our group just made it regularly and I gotta say, our pie was GOOD. Probably because I made it, but whateves. There were three other pies, so right before lunch, we all had to try four different slices of pies. Lunch that day was a chicken sandwich. I just took the chicken, lettuce, tomato and onion out and ate it. My break was from 1-3 so I had a break right after lunch. During break I met someone who had befriended Ryan. His name is The Other Evan. Well, that's what I called him. You see, I met a different Evan on the purple team so The Other Evan I met after. There was Sweepy Haired Evan and the Other Evan. We played some games in the girl's dorm lobby (the guy's called it the hotel, they called their dorm the prison, ha) Then the sharpies came out and we all started drawing on each other. If the Other Evan doesn't get blood poisoning, I don't know who will. I drew an epic flower on like everyone. You'd be jealous of my skillz. Like, I can tell you wish you had one of my flower tats. Anyway, after break, I headed over to yoga. That class was a lot of fun. I'm actually more flexible than some of the girls that were in my class. That was surprising. My favorite part of yoga? we got to nap at the end of class. After yoga was dinner then after dinner on the first night we had the pool party. Except it ended after like 45 minutes and a quarter of the way into the belly flop contest because of thunder. I'm not sure what happened with the boys, but the girls' counselors went out on a Wendy's run for us. That was delicious. We had our hall meeting and then went to bed... or not. At like 11:15 the intercom came on and we were told to come down to the lobby. Surprise Dance Party! So, I'm an awkward dancer aka I don't dance, but I eventually got pulled into it. I enjoyed it.
Day 2
I felt okay when I woke up! The second day's religion (for me) was especially boring. I was awake before but after I was ten times more tired. For cooking we made steak and chicken. Kate and Henry were on my team. Henry decided to put a whole stick of butter in the pan, so when I flipped the chicken, the butter went everywhere, including my shirt. My tummy has now been burned and I'm afraid it might scar. UPDATE (this was written a while ago) my burn scar didn't actually scar.  During break we played werewolf (like mafia). Later, when the sharpies came out, I drew more on Evan. But then somehow Henry and I got in a sharpie war. Oh, I remember how, I drew a manly flower of manliness on him and then wrote I <3 Anji Cooper on him. Then he wanted revenge and then the war started. I won. I feel bad, though. I opened a sharpie to sneak attack his neck but it exploded an now his shirt is like, special looking. Yoga was cool. Dinner was...eh... Day two was roller skating. I didn't want to because I'd make a fool of myself (I've never done it before) but Zia made me promise to be like outgoing (oh and I made a lot of new friends that I didn't mention) so yeah, I had to. Everyone now apparently thinks Atticus and I are dating/ we'd make a great couple and I'm just like NO WE'RE BEST FRIENDS. THAT'S IT. We were only holding hands because Atticus kept falling and I needed someone to propel me. Henry was laughing at me because he was like pro. -_- No one asked me to the boys choice skate, which was a little disappointing but whatever. I skated almost the whole time. For the girl's choice skate Niah and I skated together. We both sucked at it. Then we drove back and had Vespers. I didn't establish this before, showering in the dorms was a pain in the, well, butt and everywhere else. There was like, literally no water pressure. By the end of the week Fiona always complained that I was and I quote five hours late to every hall meeting. That was a lie. I was like ten minutes max late to two of the hall meetings.

Day 3
WEDNESDAY. Religion was fun, we had Mr. Halterman, he was amusing. We made a lot of different kinds of eggs for cooking, so it wasn't especially interesting. Especially because I dislike eggs. Lunch was eh and break was fun. Yoga was cool. We did headstands along with other stuff. Dinner, eh, as usual. Wednesday night was the Gym Jam. First we went around in a giant rock, paper, scissors competition and then we were released to do one of the many activities. What did I do? I literally did Twister the whole two hours. Won both times, too. You may beat me no competition in sporty things but I would totally win in a twister competition. I beat the Other Evan. haha. (he's highly competitive, like me, we fought a lot about stuff)
Day 4
Olympics. Everyone was like OMG the olympics are the most fun part. Eh, not really. At least, I didn't think they were that fun. In cooking we made a lot of sauces. Henry and I made Marinara sauce together. It tasted amazing but somehow I burned my hand. Whenever Henry and I were on a team together I burned something. Bad luck charm, much? Over break the Other Evan and I got in a fight over who knew the correct version of the card game, Spit. If you ever run into the Other Evan, please inform him that his version is wrong because I obviously know the right version. But for the most part of break, Atticus and I just hung out because almost everyone went to BATS for clothing for the olympics. Yoga was cool, as usual. Dinner, the same. Then we had like an hour to get ready for the olympics. I really wished I'd bought that tutu. Next year I'm totally buying one. I just wore a purple T-shirt and shorts. But then i tied a purple bow to pull my hair back, had purple written in purple across my forehead. Purple streaks on my cheeks and purple lipstick. The olympics were kinda ruined for me on the second thing because we had to get super dizzy and I felt sick for the rest of the time. It started thundering so we had to go inside the field house after the second task. After the fourth thing the fire alarm went off. Seriously, we were in the field house and the fire sirens went off for like five seconds before stopping in front of the building. There was no fire so to this day we don't know if someone pulled it to be funny or something happened with the lightning (there was a lot of it) At the end of the olympics the Purple, yellow, and red team sang to the green, blue and orange teams. They sang back. We were just singing back and forth to each other. Apparently that's never happened before.
OH! I forgot to tell you about challenges! Everyday your counselor gives you the minimum of one challenges to do. At first they were simple like find out three things about a new boy you don't know. or clears 20 people's plate. They got more complicated as the days go on. A lot of the time involving camp crushes.
Day 5
The last day. In cooking we made candy. Dude, I still have like a twenty pound bag of homemade candy. I have no idea what I'm going to do with all of it. Yoga, same. Break- we played games and such. After yoga I showered. dinner happened sooner than expected so I was like running to the dining hall with soaking wet, hardly brushed hair. Then after dinner we had to get ready for the dance party. I wore a purple dress and the same heels I wore for graduation. The boys escorted us to the mitchel performing arts center, Layne escorted me. There, we watched the slideshow and then continued onto the dance party. I wasn't sure how I'd feel about it but that was totally my favorite part of camp. I just let loose and it was a lot of fun. Slow dancing was fun too. I slow danced with Colin, Atticus, Henry x2, Andrew and Kevin. We had no curfew on the last night and could actually go into each other's rooms. So Mariah slept over with Leigh and I.
Then the last morning, was breakfast and then mostly packing. Zia (she got her drivers license, we're all going to die.) I hugged a bunch of girls plus Henry and Other Evan goodbye and we left.
All in all ANC camp was fun but not as fun as expectations were set. The best part was meeting new people and the dance party. I will be going back next year and well, yeah.
Did you have fun reading all that or did you just skim? If you skimmed -_- cheater.
